Hello, My name is Emil, KC2ERP. I had an interest in amateur radio for many years. Until 1999, I have thought it was difficult to become licensed. I finally made up my mind to go for my "ticket" once and for all. Back in December of 1998, I bought some books to study, and enlisted the help of a few great amateur radio web sites, of which, you will find links here. I passed Element 2 and Element 3a. As of this writing I am working on Element 1a, possibly 1b. I would like to mention 2 people that have encouraged me to get my "ticket". Artie, now a "Silent Key". In life he was active on ALL bands. I can't begin to think of how many hours I spent listening to him working all the bands and teaching me about amateur radio back in the early 60's I would not be where I am today. 73's Artie - W2LDP - We miss ya!... WD4BKD - Bob, is another fine gentleman who lent a bit of encouragement to help me step into the world of amateur radio.
I moved to my current QTH, Staten Island, New York in 2002. I finally was able to buy my first HT after having my Tech ticket since 1999.An Icom IC-T7H.. Eventually bought a radio to use in the apartment. I bought an Icom IC-706MKIIG with the hopes of upgrading to my GENERAL ticket soon. My landlord was gracious enough to give me permission to put up a Diamond 2000 tri-band vertical antenna. I then broke down and bought an Icom IC-208H for the mobile.. All within an 18 month period.
hey, it's kc2erp and "kids".. September(white) & Onyx
I have set up my station in my apartment in a 3' x 5' space. I know it's not the greatest of stations, but it serves my purpose.
